Primary

When I was set apart as the Primary pianist in our ward (my wife is the chorister), I was told in the blessing that I had been given this calling to help me maintain my talents.  I admit I was skeptical–I was, at the time, practicing piano on BYU campus several times a week.  Things like Prokofiev, Ravel, Scriabin–how was playing Primary songs going to help me maintain that?

Of course, at the time, I had forgotten that semesters end, and that we don’t have a piano at home.  That the only time I would even see a piano all summer would be during Primary on Sundays.  Silly me.

You’d think, after all the experiences I’ve had with callings, and blessings, and other such things at church, I’d stop being so skeptical at a time like that.  But no, I’m still silly as can be.
